Date Nights

The key is to not stay stagnant. You must realize that both of you have changed since becoming a parent. You must make time for each other, away from your kid!

Date Nights After Kids

Your life changes completely once you have a baby. You used to have those free nights to hang out with your lady, watch a movie in bed, get some snacks, and quality quiet time. Now, everyone is exhausted. When you do get a chance for some free time, you would much rather catch up on some sleep. It’s very easy to get into a rut in your relationship because your little person becomes the center of both of your universe. Even when you do end up spending some alone time with each other your conversations tend to always end up being about your kid. This is totally normal behavior.

The key is to not stay stagnant. You must realize that both of you have changed since becoming a parent. You must make time for each other, away from your kid! You can still be spontaneous, you just must be creative. I think that date nights should be mandatory. Date nights don’t have to be expensive or fancy either. It seems like pre-Carter, my wife and I would go out, and we would have to be either dressed up or semi dressed up no matter where we went. Now, when we get a moment, a quick trip to grab some food, or catch a movie in some sweats is just as fun as a night out on the town.

So, if you have family, or good friends you can trust to watch your little one for a couple hours, get out, and have some fun! You can literally make any type of outing into a date. If you attend church, they often have a married ministry that has events. Some of them even watch your children for free! Get a designated baby sitter that you can depend on also. You will want to let your child get used to being around other adults. We are all human and need that alone time, don’t ever feel bad about it. It will keep you sane, trust me 😊
